Two engines are available for the Jetta, one for the economic models, and a more powerful engine for the sporty models. The base and 2.5 model engine is a 2.5 liter in-line 5 cylinder that produces 150 horsepower. A 5-speed manual transmission comes standard, with 6-speed automatic available as an option. Controlling 2.0T and GLI modes contain a 4 cylinder turbocharged engine producing 200HP. For the sport models the manual transmission moves up to a 6-speed standard, with 6-speed automatic optional. Both automatic transmissions feature a Triptronic manual shifter for extra control, with the sport model containing a Direct Shift Gearbox.
Inside the Jetta accommodates five people with 91 cubic feet of interior room. On the storage side there is 16 cubic feet. The 60/40 folding seats extend the storage space available.

Every feature the Jetta base model contains comes standard on the more expensive variations, unless a more improved feature is provided instead.
Base model ($16,490) - 8 speaker CD stereo system with auxiliary input and mp3 compatible, air conditioning, 15 inch steel wheels. On the safety end there's front, side, and curtain airbags, as well as anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution.
Jetta 2.5 ($18,750) - wheels are upgraded to 16 inch, and stability electronics are added.
Jetta 2.0T ($22,750) - wheels are upgraded to 17 inch alloy, the steering wheel gets wrapped in leather, and the trunk can be opened remotely.
Jetta GLI ($24,750) - all the upgraded features of the 2.0T with other sporty touches, such as alloy pedals and a leather shift knob.
