2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

The Mitsubishi Lancer has been around since 1973, and 2008 marks a significant design year for this model of sedan. No longer will the Lancer be thought of as the econobox version of the rally version Evo X as the vehicle has been completely redesigned. It is available in three trim levels: the base model DE, the luxury equipped ES, and the sportier GTS. All models use the same engine and each are available with a 5 manual transmission or a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) automatic. The GTS model also features a Sportronic version of the CVT with steering wheel mounted aluminum paddle shifters that simulates a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Details

The new Lancer is based on the same platform as the Outlander (another rally inspired vehicle), and features a 2.0L MIVEC inline-4 engine delivering 152 hp @ 6000 RPM and 146 ft-lb of torque @ 4250 RPM. The California models are modified to meet the PZEV emissions and deliver slightly less power at 143 hp. The engine block is made from aluminum and has dual-overhead cams. The GTS version includes many more of the luxury accessories, and includes body trim modifications including: 18" 10-spoke aluminum rims, a rear spoiler, a chrome tail pipe, and front-side air dams to reduce lift.

Tech Accessories

The Lancer is one of the most technology-equipped vehicles at its price point. It includes a 650 Watt stereo system, a touch screen navigation/audio interface, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 30 GB hard drive where you can rip and store your CDs.

Pricing

Trim MT CVT
DE $14,615 $16,615
ES $16,615 $17,515
