The Dual XDMR7710 is an in-dash multimedia A/V receiver which provides up to 220 watts of peak power. The Pioneer DEH-1300MP is a basic head unit and CD receiver that can play a number of digital formats. The CD drive can handle CD-R/RW discs, and will read MP3, WMA and WAV files. Playback of compressed audio runs through the Advanced Sound Retriever, which expands the files to give a fuller, richer sound. The front AUX port will accept sound input from portable media players that can connect with a 3.5mm mini-jack. The JVC KD-R810 is a mid-range car audio receiver. It features both front and real USB 2.0 connections for memory sticks or iPod and iPhone connectivity. The KDC-BT645U is a mid-range, single-DIN car audio receiver from Kenwood. Released in January 2008, the Alpine CDA-9886 is designed to accept multiple iPod versions including the iPhone. The Pioneer DEH-4300UB is a CD receiver with iPod and iPhone controls built in. This is similar to the Pioneer DEH-3300UB, but has 2 separate 2 volt pre-outs and the display can be customized to over 210,000 colors. Most of the functions are also the same as the Pioneer DEH-4300UB, but this model doesn't have Pandora compatibility. When plugged into an iPod or iPhone through a USB connection full control of the device is made available through the panel. A number of compressed audio formats are also readable from a CD-R/RW or USB storage device, and are processed by the Advanced Sound Retriever that helps to create a fuller, richer sound. The Eclipse AVN4430 is a DVD-Video A/V head unit built for use in automobiles. It handles both CDs and DVDs with conventional audio/video, as well as MP3 and WMA audio files. The Clarion CZ500 is a car stereo receiver built to be as flexible as possible. It is identical to the Clarion CZ300 in every way, but also includes a hands-free microphone for use when using the Bluetooth cellphone integration feature. It is HD radio ready, capable of receiving at superior quality and displaying helpful information. You can also tag songs you like to be downloaded to your iPod at a later date.

It includes an adapter cable to fully integrate your iPod or iPhone functions, and has a rear USB cable to connect with a memory stick of MP3 or WMA files. There is also a cable to easily connect an XM Direct 2 tuner. The CD player can also handle data disks with MP3 and WMA files. Outputs work through four channels of 45 watts, and there are an additional four 2 volt RCA outputs. Equalization is handled through three presets, and there is a low pass filter for the subwoofer.

The Alpine iDA-X305 is an in-dash head unit that is designed to provide seamless control of your iPod, iPhone and other digital devices over your car stereo. The Kenwood eXcelon DNX8120 is an in-dash all-in-one entertainment system, hands free driving aid, and navigation system. The 6.95" color touch screen includes a customizable user interface as well as a customizable start up, a feature not many in dash entertainment systems include. The Kenwood eXcelon DNX8120 interfaces with iPods, but it does not do so perfectly. Earlier iPods are not compatible with the system and the iPod touch cannot play its video through the system. The navigational system is a built in Garmin system that covers the US, Canada, PR, Alaska and Hawaii with NAVTEQ mapping. It includes a remote control to allow backseat passengers to control the system, giving the driver the option to have distraction free driving.

The JVC KD-A725 is a head unit with iPod and iPhone integration and a durable build that comes with a 2 year warranty. The DEH-P750MP is one of Pioneer's high-end car CD receivers. Like the closely related DEH-P7500MP, the display of the DEH-P750MP can play images you feed it via CD-R. This display is dual (LED and OEL), and has a wide viewing angle so that you can view it even while the sun is bright in your car. The DEH-P750MP comes with 2 screensaver movies and four background animations. The MOSFET 50 amplifier here is standard on Pioneer's middle/upper level car CD receivers (w/ 4 x 50 watts of built-in speaker power). Like most of Pioneer's car CD receiver line, the DEH-P750MP can play MP3 and WMA files, provided they are burned onto a CD. If you play CDs with MP3 or WMA files burned onto them, Pioneer's Digital SpeedReady feature will make it so you are not waiting for the disc to be read, which can be a problem with MP3/WMA discs. The DEH-P750MP's ID3 tag capability displays artist and track information up to 32 characters, with autoscroll. The Clarion CZ101 is a basic low-cost CD receiver for a 1-DIN dashboard slot. This is followed in the series by the Clarion CZ201, which follows the same basic design but adds a USB port for use with an iPod. They otherwise share the same features, including the ability to play regular audio CDs and burned discs with MP3 or WMA files. A front AUX input accepts audio from portable media players through a standard 3.5mm connection. The Kenwood KDC-BT648U is an integrated, single DIN in-dash automobile A/V receiver that features Bluetooth wireless technology. This technology allows users to take and receive phone calls through their car stereo system, meaning they don’t have to hold their phone to their face the whole time. Keep in mind this only works with Bluetooth compatible phones. Otherwise, the KDC-BT648U is very similar to the DPX308U, except that it doesn’t have an oversized, variable illumination display. Instead it uses a more moderately sized display. The Pioneer MVH-P7300 is an in-dash digital media receiver built to fit into a 1-DIN space in the console. This is similar to the Pioneer MVH-P8300BT, but doesn't have Bluetooth built in. They are otherwise the same, with a 3 inch full-color TFT display and the ability to take complete control of an iPod or iPhone's media functions when connected through USB. The JVC KD-HDR40 is a basic CD Receiver with a number of expansion capabilities. It has a built-In HD radio tuner for clearer radio where available, and it is Satellite radio ready. It is also ready to work with Bluetooth devices with the addition of an optional add-on. It can play regular CDs, or MP3 and WMA files.

Four 50 watt outputs send audio to the speakers, and auxiliary front 2.5 volt and subwoofer lines are also available. A front AUX input allows for any number of devices to work with the receiver, and an advanced multi-bit DAC works to improve sound quality.

Kenwood KDC-MP745U

The Kenwood KDC-MP745U is a mid-range single-DIN car audio receiver. An AUX input ensures it works with any portable media device, while a USB port enables special iPod/iPhone functionality. Users can control, browse, and search in a variety of ways a connected iPod via the receiver interface. Like the KDC-MP445U, the receiver supports Bluetooth, satellite radio, and HD radio via separately purchased accessories. It offers an upgraded, 5-line display, however, and adds AAC support to the unit's CD player, which also supports MP3 and WMA audio. The MP745U also features more advanced sound EQ functionality than lower-end models. The unit is equipped with three 2.5V preamp outputs, and reaches 50 W of power output per channel, or a total of 200 W.

The KW-AVX830 is a high-end car A/V receiver from JVC. The double-DIN head unit features a 7" touchscreen and plays CDs and DVDs. Equipped with a USB port and Bluetooth technology, it can also play content from iPods, iPhones, Bluetooth-enabled smartphones, and other portable media devices. Bluetooth can also link the unit to a mobile phone, enabling hands-free calling, phone book transfer, and other features. The receiver supports a total power output of up to 200 W, or 50 W per channel, excluding a subwoofer. The KW-AVX830 also supports HD satellite radio. With the mostly identical KW-AVX720, Bluetooth requires the purchase of an additional accessory.

The Sony MEX-BT2700 is a head unit with a 1-line LCD display. It has a detachable faceplate which is a great feature for theft prevention - removing the faceplate and putting it into the glove compartment will deter casual theft and breakins to the car. It is ready for satellite radio, HD radio and iPod control. It has rear/sub selectable pre-outs, front auxilary input, 2-volt front and EQ3 stage 2. The Sony MEX-BT2700 has profile support for HPF, A2DP and AVRCP. It has bluetooth audio streaming functionality and hands-free calling, making it one of the more affordable head units that are capable of that.
