Acer Aspire Ethos AS8943G-9319

$1,499.99 Released January, 2011

Product Shot 1 The Pros:18.4" display is one of the biggest laptop displays available. Great performer--i7 CPU and Radeon 5850 GPU can handle most games on the highest settings. Surprisingly good battery life--8-cell battery rated at lasting 8 hours of typical use.

The Cons:5400rpm hard drive bottlenecks performance--7200rpm or SSD options would have been nice.

The Acer Aspire Ethos AS8943G-9319 is a premium-grade gaming, business, and entertainment laptop designed to handle almost anything. Featured is a quad-core Intel Core i7 1.73GHz CPU, 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 RAM, and a 500GB 5400rpm SATA drive.

More importantly, there’s a high-end Direct X 11 compatible Radeon HD 5850 graphics module with 2GB of GDDR5 RAM. Combined with the processor and the 18.4” LED backlit display, the module can essentially handle all modern 3D games at their full resolution, not to mention Blu-ray films at a full 1080p resolution. Also included are a bevy of connectivity options (HDMI, FireWire, Bluetooth) and networking options (Ethernet, WiFi).
