The AKG K 514 is a set of semi open-back, dynamic headphones that are part of AKG's Wired line. Leatherette circum-aural ear pads provide a comfortable fit, completely covering the ears while the open-back design allows sound to escape through the back of the earcup which gives an airy or open quality to the sound. They are lightweight yet are made to appeal to someone who wants high quality audio. The sound difference in the 'open' design means sound can escape, and ambient noise can enter, thus making these ideal for quiet listening environments like your living room. The speakers are designed with NdFe magnets and can handle a maximum of 200mW at 32 ohms, which is the rated impedance for most portable media player headphones.
