Considered by the Head-fi community as the best price:performance step between the SR225 and RS1, the MS2 is a headphone designed by Grado and Alessandro and distributed by Alessandro. Using the same body as the SR325, the metalic MS2 is often compared favourably to its Grado equivalent. With a more neutral sound signature - designed to be used for the creation of music - the MS2 avoids the piercing high frequencies many people report plague the SR325. A purely high end headphone, the MS2 sounds best with a dedicated headphone amp and proper source equipment - but can also be driven out of an every day portable media player or speaker headphone port.

Grado SR325i
MSRP $200.00
Released January, 2001
Pros
- slightly darker than lower grado headphone models, easier to listen to
- the most high end Grado that maintains the light plastic shell
- one of the best from a price:performance ratio - SR325 is $100 (50%) more, SR125 is not well regarded
Cons
- some believe a lesser Grado can be transformed to approach
the refined sound of the 225 by implementing modifications (replacing grill, adding dampening to the back of the driver etc...)
- open design and thick cable are only good for quiet at home listening - cannot be easily thrown in a bag
- potential comfort issues - takes a while to get used to
