All Families Are Psychotic

In Coupland's seventh book which acts as a departure from his usual writing style, the narrative follows a hyper-dysfunctional family as they cope with conflicts both internal and external. To list out all the issues and events that transpire between the character would take... well an entire book.

Some critics have criticized the book for being too fanciful, while others enjoy the outlandish soap-opera nature of the plot.

Douglas Coupland is a great writer, I haven't read all of his books but the ones I read were thoroughly enjoyable.

There's just no point to it, and it's just one stupid and ridiculous situation after another that is tied together with the most tenuous of narrative threads. I don't MIND the ridiculousness of the events, it's more that there's no REACTION to the events. Everybody is as calm, cool and collected as a friggin robot which makes the book quite boring to read. Though I do like the Florian character for some reason, he was actually interesting and had a little bit of depth to him. It's a shame he's only in the book for such a short time.
