The Averatec D1205 Series represents a set of midgrade all-in-one nettop PCs released in mid 2009. A base model features an Intel Pentium Dual Core processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 320GB SATA hard-disc drive. It’s adorned with an impressive 25.5” WSXGA widescreen display that supports a 1920x1200 resolution, which means it can handle full 1080p high-definition video content in its natural form. Included also is a wireless keyboard, a wireless mouse, and even a media remote control. Despite its almost spectacular initial appearance, the D1205 is plagued by integrated graphics and audio, but does at the very least host a built-in ATSC TV tuner, as well as plenty of expansion space.

The BenQ nScreen i91 is an 18 inch LCD screen and computer rolled up in one sleek package. The screen has an aspect ratio of 16:9, pretty standard for LCD monitors. The computer part of it features an AMD Sempron 210U processor and is powered by 1 GB of RAM and 160GB hard drive. Though those features are impressive, it is important to note that a computer and display rolled up into one isn't easily modified, which means the RAM and the hard drive that come with it is all its ever going to be. The Asus AIO PC ET2400INT is an all-in-one computer targeted at home users looking for a high quality entertainment and general use system. All-in-one computers are different than traditional computers by housing everything within the monitor as a complete unit instead of having an additional tower.

This model has a 23.6 inch screen and several options to choose from depending on the needs of the user. Internal hard drive space can be 500GB, 750GB, or 1TB, and memory options range between 2-8GBs of DDR3. Processor options are IntelCore i3 and i5, with graphics also upgradable to 1GB of video memory up from the NVIDIA 310M's 512M. Depending on the choice of hardware, performance and pricing will vary. Although most programs will run on the lower-end hardware, gaming programs will vary significantly and newer games will likely run poorly even on the higher-end hardware options.

Several other hardware features are included in the system as standard. These include a built-in camera and microphone, wireless capability and wireless mouse/keyboard, and several standard input and output ports. Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit operating system is also included along with limited versions of Microsoft Word and Excel. Sony VAIO J Series VPCJ118FX

The Sony VAIO VPCJ118FX is a 21.5'' all-in-one desktop PC. It is the highend model in the J-series. Its 21.5'' display has full HD resolution (1080p) and is multi-touch compatible. Physically the J118FX is identical to it's cheaper brother J115FX, they differ in terms of their internal components, the J118FX has a dual core Intel i7 processor as opposed to the i3 found in the J115FX. It should be pointed out that the i7-620M is in fact a laptop processor (same goes for the i3 used in the J115FX), this might be due to Sony trying to keep the desktop's size to a minimum, but at an increased price by using laptop parts. It also features 6GB of ram (up from 4GB), and Nvidia dedicated graphics. Though it is strange to see the hard drive capacity remaining the same, one would expect a premium multimedia desktop to have large amount of storage space for media content such as music and high definition videos. Other features includes a built in webcam with face tracking, wireless keyboard/mouse, and high speed network connectivity (wifi b/g/n + gigabit ethernet). The J118FX has some nice component upgrades over the J115FX, but whether it is worth the premium is another question.

The Compaq Presario CQ1-1020 is an entry-level, all-in-one desktop PC featuring an Intel Atom processor, 1GB of integrated RAM and a 160GB, 7200rpm SATA HDD. Due to its small amount of integrated RAM, the CQ1-1020 comes with Windows XP, and an optional Windows 7 upgrade is not recommended unless the user also opts for an increase in memory as well. Included with the AIO PC is an 18.5” HD display suited for watching movies and playing non-graphics-intensive games, as the unit’s integrated graphics adapter likely won’t support anything in 3D. What critics find appealing about the CQ1-1020 is that it comes with both standard Ethernet and Draft N wireless, not to mention a 6-in-1 card reader and integrated communications (cam/mic) devices. However, the unit also comes with an overabundance of ‘bloatware.’

The Wind Top AE2420 is an all-in-one desktop PC from MSi's Entertainment All-in-One Series. The PC features a 24" multi-touch LCD panel with a native resolution of 1080p for displaying Full HD image content. The Acer Aspire Z5610 is an all-in-one desktop computer and the big brother of the Veriton Z280G which was released in August 2009. This model has a larger 23" 1080p HD touchscreen and comes with Windows 7 Home Premium with multi-touch support. Inside is an Intel dual-core E5300 2.6GHz processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory, ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 512MB graphics and a 320GB hard drive. Some reviewers say the unit has a DVD Super-Multi Drive, but the folks at Engadget claims that it’s instead bundled with an EXTERNAL DVD rewriter. There is for certain an HDMI output. It runs off the Windows 7 OS (64-bit) and supposedly also hosts a 7-in-1 media card reader, an integrated webcam, and Bluetooth wireless.

Asus Eee Top ET2203 is an all-In-One touch screen PC announced by Asus at CeBIT 2009 in March 2009. It has a 22" screen with HDMI interface for high definition TV tuner and Blu-Ray. Prior to official release, observers believe that the presence of an HDMI port suggests the integration of a dedicated graphics card, maybe an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4350, and that this device is HD capable. Further, they suspect that the hardware might be similar to that found in the newly announced Asus Eee Box B208, to provide enough power for blu-ray decoding. Asus hasn't said much about the device, other than that it is interactive and excellent for home entertainment.

The Lenovo ThinkCentre A70z is an all-in-one Windows 7 desktop system targeted towards small- and medium-size businesses. It features a 19” (16:10) LCD screen, an Intel Celeron or Core 2 Duo processor, up to 2GB of RAM, and a 500GB SATA hard-disc drive. Included also is a DVD drive, integrated speakers, a built-in webcam, and optional Wi-Fi connectivity. Overall, the A70z isn’t very impressive with its specifications, but does provide enough to satisfy the needs of an average business. Do keep in mind though that Lenova claims that the A70z can boot-up in under 35 seconds, as well as shut-down 40% faster than a conventional desktop. All of this is offered for under $500.00.

The HP TouchSmart 9100 is an upper mid-cost all-in-one PC, designed for business use. This model is a step up from the lower cost Omni Pro 110 business all-in-one in a few ways. First, with twenty-three inches of 1980 x 1080 resolution, the TouchSmart 9100's display is both larger and higher resolution than the Omni Pro 110's twenty inch 1600 x 900 setup. The 9100's display is also multi-touch, while the Omni Pro 110's is non-touch. Another difference between the two models is the TouchSmart 9100's high-end NVIDIA MCP7A-J chipset, which supports Low-Voltage Differential Signaling (LVDS), a power-saving feature. The Lenovo C310 is an all-in-one desktop computer set to be released in February 2010. Most desktop computers have all of their internal components housed in a tower case that is connected to a display device via wires; all-in-one desktops are not like this. Instead, the entire computer is built within the limitations of the display case, meaning that the system's motherboard, processor, graphics unit, and everything else are contained within the monitor as a complete unit. This design allows for a more complete package that is both easier to set up but is also more portable. The Lenovo C310 is also different than other all-in-one systems in that it has a 20 inch, widescreen touch display for an additional option for user interaction other than the standard keyboard and mouse, which are still the primary way to use the computer. The system has several customizable specifications that can be chosen at the time of purchase, including up to 4GB of RAM, and a selection of Intel Atom 330 Dual Core processors. The desktop is capable of running some gaming programs but anything newer than a few years prior to its release date may not run very well, and only on the lowest possible settings if they will run at all.

The Averatec D1005 Series represents a set of all-in-one nettop PCs released in mid 2009, a few months before the launch of Windows 7. As such, the D1005 hosts the Windows Vista operating system, although a free upgrade is available. Featured on a base unit is a large 22” WSXGA display, an Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor, 3GB of standard RAM, and a 320GB SATA hard-disc drive. It also comes with a USB keyboard and mouse. It’s ideal for both business or home users, as it can handle HD video playback/streaming, online conferencing, and DVD burning. To be more specific, included is a slot-loading DVD burner, Wireless-N connectivity, Gigabit LAN, a 2MP webcam, and eSATA expansion options. The number 1 drawback though is the lack of a dedicated graphics card.

Additional Information

If you want a bigger system, consider the D1205. But if you are short on cash, then check out the D1133 instead.

The Sony VAIO VGC-JS155J/P is an all-in-one desktop computer released in late 2008. This PC features a 20.1” LCD screen, an Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 at 2.53 GHz, 4GB of DDR2 memory and a 500GB serial ATA hard drive, making it suitable for general use. Besides a marginally faster processor and larger hard drive, this computer is essentially the same as the VAIO VGC-JS110J/S. It includes an integrated Intel G45 Express Graphics chipset, two 3-watt stereo speakers and also supports 5.1 high definition surround sound. This desktop also has an 8x DVD writer, wireless 802.11 b/g/n networking, a multimedia card reader (Memory Stick/SD) and Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit edition. The Averatec D1006 Series represents a set of all-in-one nettop PCs released in late 2009. It builds from the D1005 series by incorporating the Windows 7 operating system, as well as a superior Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5300 processor. In regard to everything else, though, the D1006 is practically a duplicate of its predecessor. Included is a large 22” WSXGA display, 3GB of RAM, a 320GB SATA hard-disc drive, and both a USB keyboard and mouse. It’s ideal for both business or home users, as it can handle HD video playback/streaming, online conferencing, and DVD burning. To be more specific, included is a slot-loading DVD burner, Wireless-N connectivity, Gigabit LAN, a 2MP webcam, and eSATA expansion options.

Additional Information

If you want a bigger system, consider the D1205. But if you are short on cash, then check out the D1133 instead.

The Gateway ZX4800-03 is one of two all-in-one desktop PCs (ZX4800-03, Gateway ZX4800-27) released as a precursor to the superior ZX4300 series. In particular, the ZX4800-03 utilizes a weaker single-core processor with basic Intel integrated graphics and less RAM (3GB), but it adds along support for 5.1-channel audio, unlike its 2.1-channel counterparts. Most other features remain the same, including a 20” multi-touch capable display, Gigabit LAN, Draft N wireless, and an integrated DVD drive. The Gateway ZX4800-03 also sacrifices a TV tuner, but gains via a drastic reduction in overall price.

The ViewSonic VPC101 is another one of ViewSonic's all-in-one touch screen PCs. Designed to save space on a desktop, the touch screen PC packs a Intel Atom 230 1.6GHz processor into its compact design. It comes with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium installed, built-in speakers and a integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam which is great for conferences or just simple video chat. The touch screen itself is a 18.5" LCD. The ViewSonic VPC101 has four USB 2.0 ports and a 4-in-1 card reader, useful for the transfer of photos, sharing files, and uploading home movies. It comes with normal PC connections but also has wireless capability, 802.11 b/g.

The Averatec D1206 Series represents a set of midgrade all-in-one nettop PCs released in mid 2009. It’s an immediate improvement over the D1205, as it incorporates the newly released Windows 7 operating system and a superior Intel Pentium Dual Core E5300 processor. Otherwise, it is a duplicate of its predecessor. At its core is a large 25.5” WSXGA widescreen display that supports a 1920x1200 resolution, which means it can handle full 1080p high-definition video content in its natural form. Included also is a wireless keyboard, a wireless mouse, and even a media remote control. The D1206 is sadly also plagued by its peer’s weaknesses: integrated graphics and audio. It does, however, include a built-in ATSC TV tuner.

Averatec D1130 Series

The Averatec D1130 Series represents a set of entry-level, all-in-one nettop PCs released in late 2009. Featured is a weak 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of memory, and a 160GB hard drive. Overall, the D1130 is extremely unimpressive, save for its decently sized 18.4” display, which coincidentally offers a wide range of vertical motion. Included are integrated graphics and audio; in fact, critics decry the D1130’s ridiculously low volume, and recommend users seek external speakers. Other specifications are also just as meager: Wireless-G connectivity, standard Ethernet, a 4-in-1 card reader, etc. The only thing redeeming about the unit is its ports: five USB, one VGA, and of course, headphone and microphone jacks.

Additional Information

If you want a bigger system, consider the D1205. But if you are short on cash, then check out the D1133 instead.
