The AMD Athlon II X3 440 is a processor for desktop computer that use an AM3 socket for CPU chips. While this chip uses a lot of power to achieve a high number of cycles per second, processing is handled with 3 cores rather than the 4 that AMD Athlon II X4 series processors use.

The processor is rated at 3.0 GHz, and draws 95 Watts of power. Buffering of data is handled by 1.5 Mb of L2 cache, and communication with the system is handled by a HyperTransport bus running at 4000MHz. This eliminates the need for a front-side bus on the motherboard itself.
