The AMD Athlon II X4 640 is a high end central processor for full sized PC motherboards that use an AM3 CPU socket. This is similar in function to the AMD Athlon II X4 610e, but uses more than twice the power at 95 Watts to increase processing speed to 3.0 GHz.

Otherwise they are functionally the same, and both use a 45 nanometer architecture. 2 Mb of level 2 cache buffers data to keep the processor running efficiently, and a HyperTransport bus is used to eliminate the need for a built-in Front Side Bus on the motherboard. This CPU comes with a 3-year limited warranty.
