Director Davis Guggenheim eloquently weaves the science of global warming with Al Gore's personal history and lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change in the most talked-about documentary of the year. An audience and critical favorite, An Inconvenient Truth makes the compelling case that global warming is real, man-made, and its effects will be cataclysmic if we don?t act now. Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling way: often humorous, frequently emotional, always fascinating. In the end, An Inconvenient Truth accomplishes what all great films should: it leaves the viewer shaken, involved and inspired.

I am kinda a treehugger (save the environment!), but I'm not sure I'd like this movie. It sounds like Al Gore promotes himself throughout the movie. Still I will see it purely out of my concern for the rainforest.

I would recommend you see this movie...Al Gore does use it as a platform to promote himself, but it isn't that brash. Overall it is just a really good overview on the environmental issues we should be focusing on worldwide. Essentially, this is a filmed version of Al Gore's travelling slideshow presentation on Global Warming....it is really well done, and better than I thought it would be. I actually have more respect for the Gore-monster now. I am already in-the-know about most of what he talks about since I have always been interested in the Earth and I also did my thesis on climate change. After seeing this movie, I cant believe Al Gore is not the President of the US...I think the world would be a lot different--he is an aware and intelligent man--NOT obsessed with brainwashing the nation with dancing visions of fairies and terrorists for the purpose of pushing the economic envelope to cloud the real truths that face the world today. Bloody Bush-monkeys...we are living in the 80s again....oil, money, environmental-destruction, war, and that damn talking-monkey-head. It is the economy over the environment. AL AROUND THE MILITARY BUSH, THE MONKEY CHASED THE WEASEL.  Well there is my rant for the morning....phew.

Ok, now I'm worried. I haven't seen the movie yet, but if you're like me and live in the east of North America (especially Canada) and you're seeing 20 C above seasonal (68 F), you start getting scared. Ya, I know it's El Nino as well. But, man, it's warm out there!

I had to watch this movie for a class and it was definitely worth it. And I don't think he really used the movie to promote himself that much. Honestly, if we don't pay attention to climate change, we are destroying our own homes. I think everyone should definitely watch this movie or any other respectable movie on climate change!

It's funny how "global warming" has become "climate change" under the Bush admin. It's not getting worse, it's just "changing". For the better? Definitely not, if you ask me. I love the snow.

I love in the commercial where it says if you dont watch this movie you dont love your children.

I finally got around to watching this documentary. It is fantastic. Al Gore's presentation on the topic of global warming has been honed and crafted so that it's straight to the point and easy to follow. He brought up a few things that I didn't know about. The moulin phenom on Greenland and Antarctica, for example. I was surprised to learn that we can actually make a difference and bring CO2 levels back to 1970 levels with some simple measures. However, it takes everyone to get on board. Personally, I don't want to be doomed, so let's get started!

The best thing about this movie is it shows the EFFECTS of global warming. If the world temperature increased by a couple degrees, the misconception is we'll have to wear shorts in the winter, hotter summers. etc... But the real effects of temperature rise is not the rise itself, its things like melting the ice caps which can raise sea levels by 20 feet (destroying all shore-cites) and shutting off the natural warm-water currents causing another possible ice age. Erik, if you think you love snow now, wait until global warming covers the planet in snow and ice!

The earth runs on an ice-age cycle of about 40,000 years....I think we are actually in the start of another ice age cycle...in about 30,000 years most of north america will be under 2km of glacial ice. Read what wikipedia says....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_age

I had meant to watch this a long time ago. I found it compelling and I only hope that people take action rather than see this as a passing fad.
