One-off missions can be undertaken in Arcade Mode, where players must fight to survive the skies by taking down enemy helicopters before they themselves are taken down. Contrastingly, "Realistic Mode" puts a primary focus on vehicle control and shooting accuracy in effort to provide an authentic Apache experience. Air Assault's Campaign Mode features 16 multi-stage missions that take players through a variety of enemies and environments including coastal Africa, Middle Eastern mountain ranges and Central American jungles, with an added co-op mode that enables two plays to work together as pilot and co-pilot. Online multiplayer modes are also available, with team-based matches such as Team Deathmatch, Ground Attack, Capture the LZ and Ground Strike available for up to 12 players at a time.
