The Aperion Intimus 5T are mid-sized tower speakers released in mid-March 2008 to replace the 553-T model as part of the updated 5-series line of Aperion speakers. Sold individually for $495 ($990 / pair), each speaker includes two 5.25" mid-range woofers made of woven fiberglasss and a 1" silk-dome tweeter. Though technically a 2-way speaker, Aperion refers to it as a "2.5-way" design, because the second mid-range speaker is designed for extended bass response. The cabinet is made of 1" high density fiberboard (HDF), is magnetically shielded for placement near your video monitor, and is available in real cherry wood veneer or high gloss piano black lacquer. The step-up model is the Aperion Intimus 6T (MSRP $695 each) that has 6.5" mid-range drivers, deeper bass response, and greater power handling (up to 300 Watts)
