YouTube on Apple TV and iPhone

This morning Apple sent out a press release announcing support for YouTube on their Apple TV and upcoming iPhone. Starting today Apple TV users can download the update to their firmware which will allow for playing YouTube content. YouTube is converting its massive catalog of videos to the H.264 format, the same one as the iPod Video, with 10,000 videos being converted by June 29th and finishing around the fall.

On the iPhone side, a custom application is being developed that interacts with YouTube. Videos can be streamed over the cell phone EDGE network (very slow) or the WiFi connection.

YouTube on the iPhone/Apple TV is pretty cool, but nothing beats Stage6. If they can get Stage6 working then that'll be truly amazing.
