The next generation of the Macbook Pros were released on February 26th, 2008. This release includes several upgrades over the previous generation Macbook Pro; most notably they will include new Intel Core 2 Duo Penryn core processors running at 2.4 GHz or 2.5 GHz. Also, the Macbook Pros will feature the same Multitouch trackpad as found on the Apple Macbook Air released a month earlier.

• New GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB.

- LED option available on top of the line 17" version
- Macbook Air inspired multi-touch trackpad
- Faster Penryn Core 2 Duo Processor
- Matte screen options available
- Built-in FireWire 400 and 800
Cons
- no Blu-Ray drives available, not even external ones
- MacOS X doesn't support Blu-Ray playback, and can burn Blu-Ray only with 3rd party software
- only 2 USB ports (15" and smaller models)
- no integrated flash memory card reader (17" model), and only SD card reader in smaller models
- display adapters (DVI, VGA etc) are expensive! (and your only option for connection an external display)
- no integrated 3G WWAN available
- has the uncommon Mini DisplayPort instead of HDMI or DVI

- 1920x1200 resolution option available in 17" model
- Built-in FireWire 400 and 800
- Full-sized DVI-I port allows HD playback to any monitor
- Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT provides decent gaming graphics
Cons
- GeForce 8600M GT is showing its age; some newer games run slowly at high resolutions
- Built-in audio is susceptible to electronic interference (can hear hard disk activity over headphones)
