Apple Xserve

The Apple Xserve is a server which caters to a wide client base.  The processing power available is extendable , but performance wise it is a medium powered server, at a medium to high price point.  What the Xserve may lack in raw hardware, it follows the apple metric of usability.  The package that is really being sold is the interoperability of the server.  The server itself responds to traditional command line interfacing, but includes a well constructed graphical user interface which simplifies a large quantity of the set-up and maitanence work associated with a server.  The bottom line is, the Xserve is a very viable server for those who already operate under the Apple computing model. It is designed for consumers who are willing to pay extra, to reduce the amount of time and skill required in the operation of the server, without sacrificing performance.
