Archos 101
$300.00
Released October, 2010
The Pros:HDMI outputting offers simplistic content outputting - output up to 720p. Battery life is relatively strong - 4+ hours with WiFi/backlight/applications enabled. Display is large and clear - has the display aesthetics of a high-end netbook.
The Cons:Build quality is relatively poor for the price point - all plastic, LCD display and metallic connectors are fairly flimsy. WiFi connectivity is prone to intermittence - must be used as close as possible to router source. Lacks access to the official Android Marketplace.
The Archos 101 is one of five Android Froyo tablets/PMPs that all feature the Android 2.2 ‘Froyo’ operating system and an integrated accelerometer. In particular, the 101 is a full-fledged tablet released as a direct contender to the Apple iPad.

It features a 1GHz processor, 16GB of internal memory, microSD memory expansion, WiFi/Bluetooth connectivity, and an ultra-large 10.1” display that unlike its predecessor (the 70) is standard touchscreen—and not multi-touch. It's 30% lighter than the iPad, yet provides 12% more screen surface, and all this at a price significantly less than the iPad. Plus the screen is larger than the smallest netbook PC, and it offers a 1024x600-pixel resolution which is optimal for high-definition video playback. And it adds several components missing from the iPad, such as a camera for video chat, a USB interface, and an HDMI output.
