Archos 7c Home Tablet

$199.99 Released January, 2011

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Nice light weight build, doesn't feel awkward or bulky to work with. Battery typically lasts for as long as it's needed if you charge it regularly. Controls are simple and straightforward, no real learning curve.

The Cons:Battery needs to be fully charged the first few times or it won't keep a charge properly later. Lockups and lag are fairly common during normal operation. WiFi connection is slow and weak, tends to draw a lot of power.

The Archos 7c is a 7'' multimedia tablet running Android 2.1. Inside the tablet is a Cortex A8 processor, 8GB of storage, and a 800x540 resolution display. The A8 processor that powers many 2010 generation smartphones will be able to playback 720p video without a hitch.

Other features includes an USB 2.0 port, Micro SDHC card slot, and wifi b/g connectivity. That said, with Android 2.1 running on a tablet device the Archos 7c does not have access to the Android Market unlike many of its competitors. At a slightly higher price the Nook Color offers a higher quality display and access to applications on Android Market. The Archos 7c is a budget Android tablet option.
