Whoever said things have to follow one direction? For some reason, that's the norm, so it's refreshing to see a bookcase that opens every which way. The center is a perfect place to hold a plant or magazine. Although this bookcase was designed for children's furniture, it seems to fit perfectly in an adults-only place just as well.
