Ever since the introduction of the EEE PC line there have been those who have desired a more luxurious version of the Asus netbook. Introduced not long after the N10 - an EEE PC with dedicated graphics card, more advanced speakers and higher vertical resolution (to mention a few things) - the EEE S101 is yet another take on a more refined netbook laptop. Less technically impressive than the N10, the S101 goes in the other direction, fitting in the same processor, 10.2” screen and the run-of-the-mill 901 features into a slimmer and lighter brushed aluminum enclosure - only 0.75” thick, and 2.3 pounds. The S101 will also include a strange hybrid storage system, including both 16GB of SSD and a 30GB HDD. Due to start selling on November 1st 2008, the S101 will have a rather steep price tag of $699 - with other rumors putting it at over $1000. Quoted battery life is 5.4 hours.
