Asus EeeBox PC EB1012

$399.00 Released December, 2009

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Dual core Atom processor - considerably more powerful than a single core, running at 2 x 1.6GHz. Nvidia ION graphics - allows for full 1080p media, light gaming. HDMI output.

The Cons:Beaten to the punch by the $70 cheaper Acer Aspire Revo 3610. Too expensive compared to full sized, Core 2 powered systems. No optical drive.

The Asus EeeBox PC EB1012 is second of two nettops added to the EeeBox series in mid 2009. It is in fact the first EeeBox to incorporate nVidia’s ION platform; which gives it the power to better handle high-definition graphics without difficulty.

Included also is an Intel Atom N330 dual-core processor (1.6GHZ per core), 2GB of DDRII RAM (upgradeable to 4GB), and a 160GB SATA-II hard-disc drive. Suffice it to say, the EB1012 is the fastest, most powerful, and versatile nettop currently available in the EeeBox series; not to mention that it is the first to sport a dual-core processor. Additional notable aspects include a S/PDIF 5.1-channel audio output, wired/wireless connectivity, and a 5-in-1 card reader.
