The Asus PG221 is a high-end LCD monitor that was designed with the demand of a "gamer" in mind. It is Windows Vista certified, and includes built in 2.1 channel (6.1 channel stereo surround) speakers with the 15 watt ASUS power bass system allowing gamers to "fully experience the ultimate power" of their gaming. The sound system includes 5 seperate hotkey selections; Fighting, Strategic, Theater, Music, and Standard. The PG221 is a 22", 16:10 wide screen with a 2ms response time outfitted with trace free technology to eliminate ghosting and video latency during intensive games and software programs. It includes a native resolution of 1680 x 1050 with a 0.282 pixel pitch and 170° viewing angle. The "SPLENDID" video intelligence technology included allows optimized video performance with four video presets (Scenery, Theater, Game, Night View) and three skin tones that can be selected via hotkey on the front panel. For added peripherals the monitor also includes 3 USB 2.0 ports. The PG221 is manufactured with "robot-like" aluminum including a slick arm, back-glare LCD frame, and diamond-cut aluminum base which gives the monitor an overall "futuristic" look. The front panel buttons are also adorned with LED sensor controls that change colors and include custom melodies to provide an enhanced user interface. The Asus PG221 was released on June 17, 2008 and has an MSRP of $339.99.
