Asus U33Jc

$999.00 Released September, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Great aesthetic. Affordable price point. Quality materials - bamboo exterior, brushed aluminum interior.

The Cons:Faux-chrome highlighting looks gaudy / picks up fingerprints. Plastic body construction - not a full aluminum design. Glossy black plastic bezels.

The Asus U33Jc is a specialized bamboo-clad laptop designed to be environmentally friendly, durable, and even fireproof. It features a rigid and thick frame that critics say is heavier than expected at 4.5 pounds; a 1366x768 13.3” widescreen display with black plastic borders; and a full-size chiclet-style keyboard that lacks backlight functionality.

As for its performance, the U33Jc relies on an Intel Core i3-370M (2.4GHz) processor, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and either a 500GB or 640GB 5400rpm SATA HDD. Signature though is the graphics, as both integrated Intel graphics and a third-party nVidia GeForce 310M (1GB) is included, meaning users can switch between modules depending on the type of application they’re running. Plus the unit supports WiDi transmission to an HDTV, though a Netgear Push2TV (99.99) receiver is required.

markus.schwimann@unicreditgroup.at: #asus_u33jc BE CAREFUL!!! WiDi is NOT built into this Laptop!!! Other than in all reviews, when you order it, you get a model with a wrong graphics card, and when you then try Asus helpline to get it fixed (either exchange the graphics card to the correct Intel one, or at least pay me back the senseless expense for the Netgear Push2TV device that I also purchased), Asus tells you to fuck off because they don't and can't do it!!!
