Asus VG236H
$499.00
Released June, 2010
The Pros:Full 1080p resolution. 120Hz refresh rate - 3D capable. 16:9 aspect ratio - ideal for widescreen HD content.
The Cons:16:9 aspect ratio - less than ideal next to 16:10 for web browsing, general productivity software (too wide), lacks 200 vertical pixels. TN panel matrix - the only current available option for 120Hz computer displays, affordable and fast at the expense of colour quality and viewing angles. Cheep glossy plastic bezel and stand.
The Asus VG236H is a 23" computer monitor geared specifically to gamers. Besdies its smaller size, the VG236H has pretty much the same specs as its close relative, the 27" PG276H. Like the PG276H, the VG236H uses alternate-frame sequencing in cunjunction with active shutter glasses (such as Nvidia's GeForce 3D) to double the refresh rate to 120 frames per second and produce a true 3D effect, which is becoming prevalent in computer games.

Like the PG276H, there is nothing suprising in the VG236H's connectivity: 2 DVI ports, 1 HDMI port and 1 VGA port.

high price - $100 price premium over a standard 23" 1080p display, forces you to buy the Nvidia 3D vision kit - poor for if you already have it, prefer ATI cards, want it sometime in the future
