The ATI Radeon HD 3800 is a series of graphics cards which includes the HD 3850 and HD 3870. Among the first to use a 55nm fabrication process, the GPUs were fairly high-end upon their release in November 2007, with 320 stream processors and 666 million transistors each. The 3850 clocks in at 670 MHz, and the top-of-the-line model at over 775 MHz. The 3850 is available with 256 MB, 512 MB, or 1 GB of memory, and the 3870 with 512 MB or 1 GB. Key features include ATI CrossFireX technology, enabling multi-GPU setups, and ATI Avivo HD, with DisplayPort and HDMI output support. Idle and low-usage power consumption is reduced with PowerPlay technology.
