Pros
- cheaper than the 4870 was when it launched
- significantly faster (10%+) than the earlier 4870 for higher resolution gaming (1680 x 1050+)
- first AMD/ATI card offered overclocked directly from the manufacturer
- not just an overclocked GPU - significantly redesigned and tweaked
- easily overclocked (1GHz isn't too difficult) - further improving speed and value compared to competing products
- overclocked GPUs will be certified by ATI before being used by card manufacturers
Cons
- expensive
- not much different than the 4870 for lower resolution gaming (1280 x 1024 . 1440 x 900 etc...)
- high power draw and heat output
