Universally regarded by head-fi headphone enthusiasts as a good introduction into hi-fidelity headphones, the Audio-Technica ATH-A900 is a medium priced closed circum-aural headphone. Presenting a dark, non-fatiguing listening experience, the ATH-A900 is also very comfortable, an important variable when considering a headphone. While featuring a closed design, the A900 has a fairly large body, and is thus not an ideal option for travel or listening on the go. Rather, it is much better suited for use in a quieter environment for things such as gaming, watching tv or listening to music.

Released March, 2009
Pros
- slightly darker than lower grado headphone models, easier to listen to
- the most high end Grado that maintains the light plastic shell
- one of the best from a price:performance ratio - SR325 is $100 (50%) more, SR125 is not well regarded
Cons
- some believe a lesser Grado can be transformed to approach the refined sound of the 225 by implementing modifications (replacing grill, adding dampening to the back of the driver etc...)
- open design and thick cable are only good for quiet at home listening - cannot be easily thrown in a bag
- potential comfort issues - takes a while to get used to
