The Audio Technica ATH-EW9 is an adjustable, wooden clip-on headphone constructed out of “Japan’s finest Hokkaido cherry.” A more affordable competitor to the ATH-ESW9A, the ATH-EW9 supporters a lower maximum input power of 100 mW (versus 1000 mW) and inferior impedance of 29 ohms (versus 42 ohms). The ATH-EW9, however, offers oft rubber support loops and large ear hangers designed for long hours of comfortable listening. In addition, the ATH-EW9 features a 28 mm Neodymium drivermagnet, a protective carrying pouch, a 1.0 m extension cord, and swivel-enabled earphones that can be clicked onto an ideal listening position via a vertical hinge. The Audio Technica ATH-EW9 is priced at $199.95, approximately $100 less than its formidable opponent, the ESW9A.
