"Hi Omar... First just want to say... love your site. Keep up the great work~! I am wondering if you might know the answer to what is really the difference between the Sony KDL 37XBR6 & the 40V4100 other than 3 inches. I notice that you are a main contributor on all the Sony TV info. more

hey BaylorATO,

It's incredible how the whole 120Hz debate is raging with the XBR6 series. People SEE 24p content as being "smoother" than regular TVs, but there's not 120Hz spec listed. My guess is that Sony is doing quite a bit of image processing and motion compensation that makes the picture look better than older tvs and such.

Fortunately, the answer to the difference between the XBR6 and the V4100 is much easier to answer :)

The major difference is that the XBR6 has:
* Bravia Engine 2
* 10-bit panel

while the V4100s have Bravia Engine 1, and an 8-bit panel.

The Bravia Engine is used for image processing, upconversion, etc. So being the "next-generation" you can assume that you'll have a cleaner picture, truer image, less artifacts, etc.

The 10-bit versus 8-bit panel I think is a bigger deal. My parents have a 10-bit Sony tv and it looks friggin SWEET.

At the same time that extra 3 inches on the V series can be pretty sweet. I know I'm not making this any easier on you :P

As usual, go into the store and let your eyes decide (keeping in mind store settings are pretty horrible). But those are the differences on paper.
