This unit looks and feels like a quality product, and certainly performs like one. I feel confident in the capabilities of this power supply, and would highly recommend it to anyone building a high-end gaming system or graphics workstation."

2. commented on Does 1080p matter? or: How close can I sit to my TV? - May 16, 2007 at 10:39 am

"I think the difference between 1080p and 1080i is being overstated. The biggest deal with 1080p is that you dont get deinterlacing artifacts, and each frame is a complete, unaltered image. 1080i is popular in most transmission formats due to the fact that it uses much less bandwidth since the image height is taken from 1080 lines to 540 lines, and the vertical rate is doubled. The difference between the 2 formats makes itself painstakingly clear when a 1080p set is hooked up to a computer and set to 1080i and then 1080p for comparison. Even with a really good deinterlacer, scrolling through text and other rapid vertical movements involving fine detail are completely distorted and unreadable at 1080i."

bob1029 responded to the thread New categories?

May 16, 2007 at 1:19 am

edited a post

Ive actually tried to create the category, but I think I may be doing it in the wrong spot. As far as the taxonomy goes for audio equipment, I think it would be best to use the following structure to minimize confusion: ...Audio>A/V recievers (a combination of all of the below) EX: onkyo nr905 ...Audio>Amplifiers (power amps) EX: Behringer EP-2500 ...Audio>Equalizers (parametric equalizers, dynamic equalizers, etc) EX: Behringer DEQ2496 Ultra ...Audio>Pre-amplification (digital to analog converters, etc) EX: Audiosource Pre One/A Stereo Preamp The idea here being that these products, combined equal an A/V reciever, but should not be classified as such, as they can be mixed and matched as desired. Obviously some of these products are very "specialist", so it would probably be a good idea to avoid pinning them on the main audio page, and reserve the space for more popular/new products. Update: I managed to create the subcatagories from the audio page.

May 16, 2007 at 1:01 am

"Im currently using this lcd tv as a computer monitor. It provides a very good, crystal-clear image when used at native resolution. Contrast ratio is good as well, and the response time is more than adequate for the most demanding of gamers. The integrated QAM tuner is VERY nice for those who have unencrypted hd cable channels. The dynamic backlighting mode is very cool for certain games like counter-strike, as the backlight will ramp up when white levels increase, making for a startling effect in a dark room when the player is flashbanged in-game. There are several other modes available, making web browsing or document creation alot easier on the eyes. The tv can also output dolby digital over optical toslink cable for those who are watching ATSC/QAM hdtv along with a seperate reciever and sound system."
