Borderlands is a first-person, role-playing shooter released in October of 2009 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Windows Microsoft operating system. It is an innovative game that combines traditional RPG elements — single/co-op quests (up to 4 players), character reward systems, and random level generation — with the frantic-paced combat of a first-person shooter. Users can choose from 4 playable characters, each of which possesses unique abilities and skill trees. And as the player battles and earns experience, he or she can then invest in a wide range of upgrades, each of which contributes to a specialty. The result is a fully customized character that is tailored to the player’s unique playing style. Additional notable features of Borderlands include 160 quests of varying length/difficulty, over 3 million difference weapons to choose from, and the ability to engage in one-on-one dueling with other players.

Additional Information
According to Wikipedia, the storyline for Borderlands is as follows:
“In the distant future, several colonization ships head to Pandora, a planet on the edge of the galaxy. The colonists are drawn there in search of a better life as well as vast mineral resources said to be on the planet, free for anyone's taking, akin to a futuristic gold rush. Some time after settling the colonists discover that there is little the planet offers, aside from some decrepit alien ruins. Those who have money leave, the remaining population devolves into chaos and lawlessness. Some of the settlers seek to get rich quick by discovering alien technology. Most others are just trying to survive.”
