The Boston Acoustics VS 240 is a 2-way bookshelf speaker that sports a 4.5” OCCM subwoofer and a 1” super wide bandwidth tweeter. The first speaker in the Boston Acoustics VS series, the VS 240 can either be used individually or in a 5.1 channel high-quality home theater system alongside the bookshelf VS 336 and center VS 325C speakers. In addition, the VS 240 competes with the HS 40 from the Boston Acoustics HS series. The VS 240 offers a reduced sensitivity (86dB versus 89dB) and less features, but it features a lavishly-designed and super-elegant black lacquer piano finish cabinet with high-gloss furniture-grade end panels in either black or cherry. The VS 240 also comes equipped with MagnaGuard video shielding and gold-plated 5-way binding posts. The Boston Acoustics VS 240 is priced at $399.99, a whopping $300 increase from the inferior, simple-designed HS 40.
