Brother HL-4070CDW

The Brother HL-4070CDW is a color laser printer designed for producing high-impact color presentations, reports, brochures, and business documents. An upgrade from the Brother HL-4040CN, the Brother HL-4070CDW adds along a wireless network interface for connecting to a wired workgroup, built-in duplexing for two-sided printing, and BR-Script3 for PostScript compatibility. Like its predecessor, the HL-4070CDW features 21ppm print speeds for both color & monochrome prints, a max printing resolution up to a whopping 2400x6400, and high capacity replacement toner cartridges that reduce operating costs. The HL-4070CDW printer also boasts a USB Direct Interface for printing PDFs and JPEG files directly from a USB flash memory drive, a standard Ethernet port for network connectivity in a small office, and a 250-sheet capacity paper tray. The Brother HL-4070CDW retails for $499.99 and comes with a 1 year limited warranty.

[i] How is the ProSCORE calculated?

show me!

Pros:
Do you agree?
Toner is relatively cheap (per page)
+1agreedisagree

Small for a color laser
+1agreedisagree

Can easily use a garden-variety laptop SODIMM to expand the memory
+1agreedisagree

Probably the fastest color laser of this size
+1agreedisagree

PostScript and PCL6 emulations work well
+1agreedisagree

Has perhaps the most perfect and bulletproof paper feed mechanism to ever grace a printer
+1agreedisagree

Has automatic duplexing
+1agreedisagree

Output is sharp for black-and-white printing (but I mean pure black and pure white, with no shades of gray)
+1agreedisagree

Wide variety of interfaces (wireless, Ethernet, USB, even parallel port).
+1agreedisagree

Easy to monitor printer status through its built-in Web interface
+1agreedisagree

Very easy to set up printer (especially in Mac Leopard, Linux, Windows 7).
+1agreedisagree

Cons:
Do you agree?
Direct printing from USB stick is unbelievably slow
+1agreedisagree

Letters of colored (or gray) text are surrounded by tiny dots, making them look very fuzzy
+1agreedisagree

Can print vaguely almost-plausible colors, or grays that are not brownish-magenta, but cannot print both on the same page (or in the same print job for that matter).
+1agreedisagree

Emits very smelly exhaust when printing
+1agreedisagree

On some occasions (especially when page is covered with lots of gray near the margins), splatters unwanted yellow or magenta streaks on printout
+1agreedisagree

Very heavy
+1agreedisagree

When printing black text in color mode, sometimes adds red fringes around black characters (especially, but not exclusively, when using PostScript emulation)
+1agreedisagree

Printed pages tend to curl a bit at the top and bottom edges
+1agreedisagree

Status LCD is hard to read if the printer is on a high table or surface (the tilt range is not sufficient to fully adjust it for this scenario).
+1agreedisagree

Fine lines in monochrome printouts somehow look artificially faint/thin
+1agreedisagree
