Buffalo Technology LinkStation Quad
The Buffalo Technology LinkStation Quad is a portable Network-Storage Device featuring four 2.5” HDDs. The system supports RAID 0 (Stripping w/o Redundancy), RAID 1 (Mirroring), RAID 5 (w/Redundancy), and RAID 10 (Stripping/Mirroring). Unique about this system is it snap-off front plate, allowing users direct access to the unit’s quick-swap HDs. Other notable components include Web Access (optimized for iPhone); a built-in DLNA multimedia server for uploading files while away from home; a BitTorrent client; a DirectCopy function for saving files directly from a USB-attached storage device (e.g. a digital camera); and Active Directory Support. The LinkStation Quad retails in five forms, from just 1TB all the way to 8TB.

- dual USB jacks for further expansion
- fits 4 x 3.5" SATA2 drives
- supports intelligent protocols such as FTP, BitTorrent, NTP, etc...
- easy to remove front panel for quick swapping (held on by magnets)
- easy to use web management interface
- full DLNA TV support
- comes with 4 drives making full raid 5 / 10 available
- comes with high quality drives from Seagate and WD
- great value - affordable price, higher than expected feature set / performance
- already available in 4, 6 and 8TB variations
Cons
- different drives have been found by multiple reviewers - impossible to tell which yours might come with
- takes a ridiculous amount of time to re-build
RAID arrays
- does not support hot-swapping
- no eSATA support
