Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM
$1,049.00
Released February, 2010
The Pros:Bokeh component provides smooth, circular blurring patterns - largely preferred to unnatural angular blurs caused by lights and flowers. Balanced, lightweight nature is highly-suited to freehand shooting - experienced photographers will see excellent results amongst handheld portraits. Picture quality is remarkably sharp - floral, wildlife and general nature macro shots are captured at a truly professional level.
The Cons:Four-figure price point is sure to turn many potential customers away - similar macro units from Nixon and Sigma are available for several hundred dollars less.
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM is a macro lens that incorporates mid-telephoto elements. This is one of the few Canon macro lenses to incorporate Image Stabilization, allowing extreme close-up photography without as much of a need for a tripod.
