The PIXMA MP530 is a general purpose all-in-one printer, scanner, copier and fax machine from Canon. Primarily designed for a medium amount of home/home office use due to its small ink cartridges, the MP530 features barebone printer and connectivity options compared to more advanced models from Canon and comparable brands. The MP530 improves upon cheaper models by including a 5 cartridge printer system, improving speed and document quality.

Pros
- Duplex printing
- 5 print cartridges
- Has an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for automatically scanning a series of pages
- Simple to use, single push button black and white or color copies
- Output tray automatically opens when printing starts
- Quality of copies is very good
- Now available for an excellent price. $60-70
- Excellent build quality
- Fast printing
- The quality of photos printed on photo paper is just simply amazing.
- Very sharp plain-paper output for an inkjet (probably sharper than some color lasers, but ever so slightly worse than a competent B&W laser).
Cons
- No network port
- Doesn't include USB cable in box. Must purchase separately
- ADF often misfeeds any paper which previously contained any staples
- On plain paper, blacks are not as deep/dark as on HP inkjets or B&W lasers. (Some people barely notice, others find it to be a showstopper.) Affects received faxes much more severely than printouts or copies.
- The quality of photos printed on plain paper is really bad. The colors are vastly less accurate on plain paper than on photo paper. For plain paper photos, even ancient HP inkjets will beat it.
- Some people (especially non-nerds) find the fax functionality to be user-hostile
