The Canon PIXMA MX700 is a general purpose multifunction printer, scanner, copier and fax machine from Canon. Primarily designed for a medium amount of home/home office use due to its small ink cartridges, the MX700 features more advanced connectivity options, printer functionality and an improved scanner while remaining similarly priced with the MP530, sacrificing only a small amount print quality in exchange. Utilizing a 4 cartridge system, the MX700 includes an Ethernet connection for use on a LAN without requiring a running PC host and a memory card reader and 1.8" LCD for printing photos without using a PC. The printer originally retailed for $179 when it was released in August 2007 but can be found for around $100 - $200 more recently.

Network printing
The MX700 features an ethernet interface for network printing. To setup this feature, you can either connect the printer to your computer with a A-B standard USB cable, or, if you have a more solid understanding of networks, you can simply connect the printer to your network and have your router assign it an IP address using DHCP, and then manually selecting the printer when scanning the network for printers.
