The Casio Exilim EX-Z400 is an ultra-compact hi-speed digital camera small enough to fit perfectly in the palm of one’s hand. The second of two Casio EX-Z models, the EX-Z400 is a major upgrade from the EX-Z270 in that it offers an improved resolution of 12.1 (versus 10.1) megapixels, not to mention a superior 3.0” (versus 2.7”) Super Clear LCD screen. In all other ways, however, the EX-Z400 is practically a duplicate of its downgraded peer. For instance, the EX-Z400 also features an advanced high-speed image processor CPU EXLIM Engine 4.0. With the engine, the EX- Z400 is able to provide improved image quality, more dynamic photos, and an improved auto focus function. In addition, the EX- Z400 offers a dynamic photo function that allows the user to “cut out the main subject of interest in an image that has just been captured and then combine it with another image to form the background”, not to mention a makeup function that smoothes wrinkles and removes blemishes from skin. The EX- Z400 also provides movie recording at 1280 x 720 (24 fps) with sound, an SD/SDHC memory card port, an auto shutter, an auto best shot, CCD shift stabilization, anti shake DSP, face detection, 37 best shot scenes, and an NP-40 Lithium-Ion battery. The Casio Exilim EX- Z400 retails for $299.99 (versus $229.99) and comes with a 90 day limited warranty.
