The SA-15S2 is a mid-to high-end SACD/CD player from Marantz, engineered with a new power supply designed around a large, double shielded toroid transformer to ensure as little magnetic interference and noise as possible. The SA-15S2 handles MP3- and WMA-encoded CD-Rs and CD-RWs in addition to SA-CDs, and CDs, allowing all forms of audio to benefit from this player. Both analog and digital outputs are included; if the user opts for digital outputs, they can select either the gold-plated coaxial or high-isolation optical connectors. The SA-15S2's analog circuitry is configured with the SA2 version of Marantz's proprietary HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Module), and when choosing analog outputs, the digital outputs can be disabled completely to eliminate the chance of stray emissions impacting analog circuitry. The Yamaha CD-S2000 is an upscale super-audio CD player built as a step up from the CD-S1000. It also plays both CDs and Super Audio CDs (SA-CDs), but adds along additional components for enhance playback: full-stage balanced transmission, pure direct circuitry, and superior differential D/A converts. The result is a reduced harmonic distortion (down to .0017%) with SA-CD playback. Keep in mind though that regular CD playback still registers at .002%. The SA-7S1 is Marantz's flagship SACD player, designed for two-channel music production and capable of playing CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and stereo SACDs. The SA-7S1's circuitry is housed in a double-layer, copper shielded chassis for dimensional stability and thorough isolation from external radio frequency (ERF) and electromagnetic (EM) interference. The rear panel is copper-plated steel. The SA-7S1 also features a segmented power supply that includes a high-capacity toroid transformer entirely shielded by an aluminum shorting ring and a copper-plated case, a design which helps keep magnetic radiation from affecting internal circuitry. A proprietary digital filter/DC filter/noise shaper with user-selectable options processes either PCM information from a CD or a DSD data stream from an SACD, and these circuits are controlled by a high-accuracy master clock designed for low jitter. Additionally, a Digital Isolator completely separates ground connections between digital and analog circuitry for better isolation. Other features include two D/A converters providing 24-bit resolution for PCM and DSD signals, as well as fully balanced dual-differential circuits which benefit from multiple HDAM modules in the critical I/V and low pass filter sections, chosen for better speed and timbral accuracy. Unfortunately, the player only handles conventional CDs and CD-R/Ws—MP3 and WMA playback is not supported. Built especially for SA-CDs, this device is capable of an advanced 2Hz-50kHz frequency—only with an SA-CD though; Regular CD frequency tops at 25kHz. Plus, note also that both MP3 and WMA content is accepted by the CD-S1000. Additional features of the Yamaha CD-S1000 include differential D/A converters, specially designed feet for long-term placement, and an integrated control amp.
