The Nokia 6600 Slide is a sliding 3G-enabled handset with similar features to the Nokia 6600 Fold, released at the same time. The frame style is still sleek and glossy, and the 6600 Slide has the same 2.2", 16-million color display. One difference is that its camera is upgraded to 3.15-megapixels, and switches to landscape mode when rotated sideways. It also has a secondary VGA camera for videocalling. The Nokia 6300 is a mobile telephone handset produced by Nokia. The device is designed for typical use in Europe but for optimum use in North America.

The phone supports MicroSD cards up to 2 GB (4 GB with the 6300i variant), meaning that the phone can be used practically as an MP3 player. Using the supplied and freely available Nokia PC Suite, one can convert all the MP3 files in a music library to e-AAC in order to fit more on the card. However, the 2.5 mm headphone jack means that few commercial headsets will fit the phone but an optional headset, Nokia Stereo Headset model HS-81 (made By Sennheiser exclusively for Nokia), does offer as a better alternate replacement for the supplied standard headset due to its better bass sound reproduction quality.

Like most other new Nokia phones, the 6300 eschews their old pop port for a standard mini-USB connector. The phone also has two slow flashing lights on the side, to show missed calls or messages.

With firmware version 06.01 and later, Nokia 6300 is capable of playing MPEG-4 (*.mp4) files with a QCIF resolution of 176*144 at 25 frames per second. The phone allows the user to view the video clips in full-screen landscape mode and set the fast-forward/rewind interval from a few seconds to minutes.

Improved audio quality for music playback was also noted for this firmware version, thus making the Nokia 6300 a music phone similar to its counterparts, the Nokia XpressMusic.

In addition, video clips can replace ringtones so that an actual motion picture is shown while there is an incoming call.

The Samsung Intensity (aka SCH-u450) in Flamingo Red or Gray is a mobile slider phone featuring a full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.1” OLED display. It’s designed for the budget-conscious shopper, as it can be obtained free with a 2-year contract and includes all the basics coupled with an MP3 player. The most notable downsides are the lack of 3G and WiFi connectivity — which means no high-speed web browsing or basement signal reception — and no video player, not to mention a weak 1.3MP camera without autofocus or flash. Battery lasts up to 4 hours talk time and up to 270 hours standby time. Mutlimedia includes a 3.2 MP camera with 4x digital zoom, video recording, music player that plays MP3, AAC, AAC+, e-AAC+ and WMA, Blue Tooth 2.0, FM radio, micro SD external memory and tv-out output. However you can’t use your own headphones as it lacks the 3.5mm socket, you can only use the supplied stereo earphones.

The Pantech Laser is a mid-cost laser slider cell phone. The Sony Ericsson W380 is a tri-band flip handset with very similar features to the Ericsson W350 and meant to function as an mp3 player and phone in one. It has a wide, metallic frame available in several colors, and the exterior has touch controls for the music player. The W380 uses Sony's Walkman music player interface to play mp3s, and comes with track recognition and custom playlists. It has 14MB of internal memory, and includes a 512MB Memory Stick Micro (M2) and this can be expanded up to 4GB. Also included is a 1.3-megapixel digital camera with picture editor, though it is not capable of video capture. The W380 is Bluetooth connective, and has a stereo FM radio receiver as well. Like the W350, it has three different release versions, the W350i, W350c and W350a, the differences being their regional releases and reception bands.

Motorola RAZR2 V9x

Motorola's RAZR2 V9x is an almost identical version of the RAZR2 V9. The major difference between the two is that the V9x contains a GPS receiver compatible with network-dependent navigation tools, for example AT&T Navigator in the US. The GPS navigation can be displayed on the outer screen, which is designed for hands-free use when driving. Like the V9, it still features a 2-megapixel digital camera capable of video calling, Bluetooth connectivity, and mp3/MPEG4 playback. The V9x still has 45MB of internal memory, but its expansion capability has increased to 8GB with a microSD card. The included Opera browser is updated to version 8.5 as well.

Motorola RAZR2 V9

Motorola's RAZR2 V9 was released at the same time as the RAZR2 V8 and offers many of the same features. The main difference between the two is that the V9 is 3G-enabled. Its frame is also designed to be more durable, and is made of stainless steel, though it is slightly thicker than the V8. The V9 is also capable of video calling. It still features the same updated user interface and multimedia capabilities. It includes a 2-megapixel digital camera, Bluetooth connectivity, and an mp3 player. The V9 also has less on-board memory than the V8, down to 45MB from 512MB, but the V9 has a microSD card reader to expand up to 2GB.

Nokia 5500 in a cool prodoct for its low-cost and high performance. Indeed you can track your sport activity, surf the web (with the included web browser, Opera Mini, Skyfire, UCWeb and so on), read your mail, send mails, play 3D games and other cool stuff. The display is very small for all these functionalities, and internet in not that fast (only GPRS available and no Wi-Fi conncection). Bluetooth works good and you can sync it with you Windows or Mac. 2 megapixel camera is also good, in low light conditions colors are not very accurate. Finally it is very resistant to hits and splashes.

The Microsoft Kin Two is one of two Kin (codenamed ‘Pink’) next generation feature phones introduced by Microsoft in 2010. The Kins have a lot of similar built-in functionality as a smart phone but lack the ability to install 3rd party applications which is the defining characteristic of a smart phone. The Kin Two (codenamed ‘Pure’) is a curved rectangular slider with a larger keyboard for two-handed texting, a widescreen HVGA multi-touch display that supports pinch/zoom, an enhanced 8MP camera that also shoots high-definition videos, and 8GB of internal memory. Like the One, the Kin Two supports 24/7 access via syncing to Kin Studio, an online 'private space' for storing photos, videos, contacts and messages. This is done through 3G connectivity, although WiFi/Bluetooth are also available. Additional features include Zune media player (music/videos), a Mac-compatible music side-loader, and support for over-the-air firmware updates.

Additional Information

Geared for young, social-network-savvy adults, the Kin phones lack many of the features typical for a smartphone, such as personal organization/productivity software (calendar, tasks, etc.), support for third-party applications, and support for in-browser Flash or video streaming.

Featured on the Kin phones is a revitalized user interface (UI) based on “Spot” and “Loop”. The Loop concerns the home screen, which is in essence a collection of all the user’s social-network data, organized by priority. “Spot,” on the other hand, is a green circle that functions as a ‘universal attach’ button in that content (maps, status updates, videos, etc.) dragged to it is automatically shared with all the user’s contacts.

The phones release through Verizon Wireless (US) in May 2010 and Vodafone (Europe) in August 2010.

The Samsung Intrepid (SPH-i350) is a Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional smartphone. It has a touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard located beneath the touchscreen. The Samsung Intrepid is targeted towards business users who travel between continents as it operates on both CDMA and GSM networks for international roaming. Since the phone is powered by Windows Mobile, it has mobile versions of Office 2007 preinstalled for viewing and editing office documents, and it can browse the internet using IE Mobile. The Intrepid has built-in Wifi and a built-in camera, as well as an included stylus for more precise operation of the (resistive) touchscreen.

The Samsung E2510 is a flip phone with basic features and in the same product line as the relatively inexpensive Samsung E1100. The E2510 has numerous features that the E1100 does not, though. It is quad-band receptive and has a flip-style frame with built-in VGA camera capable of video capture and playback. It also features an mp3 player and FM stereo receiver, as well as Bluetooth connectivity. Its internal memory is 17MB, but there is a microSD card slot to expand up to 2GB. The E2510 is designed to be slim and stylish, while providing several industry standard features, making it a lower-mid level phone.
