Cheerios is a breakfast cereal that is manufactured by General Mills and was first introduced in 1941. The cereal was marketed by General Mills as the first oat-based ready-to-eat cold cereal. The actual 'O's in the cereal are made from toasted whole-grain oats and are cholesterol-free with fiber and folic acid. Numerous Cheerios variations were introduced by General Mills starting in the 1970s. Some of the more popular varieties are Honey Nut, Multigrain, Apple Cinnamon, and Frosted Cheerios.
