chortle commented on Samsung NC20

April 25, 2009 at 1:05 am

"The laptop turns itself on after being switched off for a while. This happens in the bag (which is a fire hazard where I've been recently in Kuwait and Bangladesh) and also if the laptop is just left out on (say on a table). I shut the laptop down carefully and after waiting a couple of minutes to be sure I close the screen. When I come back I can see a white glow around the laptop. I open the screen which is bright white. I have to press the 'on' button to bring the laptop back into Windows and shut it down again.

I just noticed that the laptop also crashed on the screen saver. I was left with a black screen. I had to hold down the 'on/off' button for a few seconds to get it to reboot.

One other problem with the netbook is the glossy screen which makes it unusable in most environments. I don't know why Samsung went for this but it is a really stupid idea. Wait until they sort this out before buying.

I upgraded mine to a 2GB ram stick right away. Suggest you do the same.
