Samsung's S24A350H is a mid-range computer monitor with a 24" display and native resolution of 1920 x 1080. It uses LED backlighting to achieve a very high dynamic contrast ratio of 5 million to 1. This monitor uses a digital angle compensation system to improve brightness when viewed from sharper angles. An Eco setting mode adjusts brightness and contrast to reduce energy consumption up to 50%. This monitor is about 6 centimetres thick and should fit into most workstations. The Apple Thunderbolt Display is essentially a 27" LED-LCD monitor that is meant to bridge the gap between mobile and desktop computing. The Apple Thunderbolt is specifically designed to work with Mac laptops including, but not limited to, the MacBook Air, Mac Mini and the MacBook Pro; of course it works with iMacs as well.

The Apple Thunderbolt display features a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels combined with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a 12ms total response time. The LG DX2000 is a 3D monitor that uses eye tracking for 3D imaging. This eliminates the need for 3D glasses. The SyncMaster S23A550H is a 23" LED computer monitor that is part of Samsung's 5 series and was released in the first quarter of 2011. This monitor has eco friendly features and an elegant see through base, and the LED backlit screen can display a resolution of 1920 X 1080 pixels with a contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1. Two sensors help conserve energy and prolong lifespan, one of which is an ambient light detector which automatically reduces brightness in a dark room and conversely increases brightness in a bright room. The ViewSonic VX2253mh-LED is one of three ultra-slim, LCD monitors between 2” and 27” released together in early 2011. As an upgrade from the VA2248m-LED, the ViewSonic VX2253mh-LED offers a slimmer bezel with LED backlighting, an improved 30,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a faster 2ms response time, SRS Premium Sound stereo speakers, and two HDMI inputs. Unfortunately it slightly downgrades, in that its energy reduction goes from 50% to just 40%. It is nevertheless still Energy Star 5.0 certified. Like its peer, the display offers a full 1080p high-definition resolution in addition to LED backlighting technology and VESA mounting compatibility. Plus there’s a VGA port.

Whilst the 16ms response time can be considered as high, it should be not a concern for an office environment. That said, any buyers who are looking for a monitor for gaming uses should look else where. The HP L2201x is a good option for business users looking for a high quality display for a space constrained environment.

Besides its larger screen, the HP 2710m sports a few improvements over the 2310m, namely: a 92% color gamut, 400 nits brightness and a 2.5 ms gray-to-gray response time. Otherwise, the 2710 sports the same 1920 x 1080 native resolution, 60,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 16:9 aspect ratio as the HP 2310m.

The 2710m's 92% color gamut provides deeper and truer colour reproduction while its 60,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio allows for darker blacks and brighter whites. The Asus VE247H is a lightweight and stylish 23.6” LED backlit LCD monitor designed to accept VGA, DVI, and HDMI connections. It’s smaller than the 24” ML248H, but it offers integrated speakers. Plus it trades away its peer’s pivot/swivel stand in favor of tilting capabilities from 20 degrees to –5 degrees. Like its counterpart, it’s HDCP compliant and capable of producing a full 1080p high-definition resolution with a 10M:1 contrast (dynamic) and a 2ms response time. The only known problem with the VE247H monitor is that when tilted, the top-most edge appears darker. This is however a very common issue in such budget-friendly models.

This would be considered the entry level in the 350 series which also includes the 22 inch S22A350H, 23 inch S23A350H, 24 inch S24A350H and 27 inch S27A350H, and the only one in the series without HDMI. It features a quick 5ms response time making it suitable for fast motion videos and gaming, and the viewing angle can be adjusted using Samsung's MagicAngle setting in the on screen menu for a 170°/160° total viewing angle. LED technology has the advantage over conventional LCD displays in that it uses 40% less energy while at the same time allowing for a slimmer and lighter design which in this case is just 2.3 inches and 6.4 pounds. Video inputs include one DVI and one VGA, with an audio input included as well via 3.5mm stereo jack. Other convenience features include off timer, multi-screen capability and Samsung's MagicBright3, MagicColor and MagicTune image processing. VESA mounting is not supported although the stand may be tilted. S20A350B was officially announced in the spring of 2011.
