Cowon iAudio D2

The Cowon D2 is a flash based MP3 player with above average battery life, sound quality and full SD/SDHC card integration. It comes with a touchscreen and tactile inputs to navigate through files. While it is readily available at online stores, it is not possible to find this product at a brick and mortar, since Cowon does not even supply to those kind of stores. The GUI is clean and works quite well. If you do get bored with the look of it though, there are many themes available for free on different forums.

I purchased this player to replace my Trekstore Vibez. I like the player over all but there are a few things that I don't like.

The play list management is not very strait forward. Though not to bad once you know what to do.

The other is a known bug even in the latest firmware. When this happens the player doesn't properly show the names of file or the ID3 tag information. Some times some of the info with show and other times it just says unknown.

I searched google and a few people say to basically load small amounts of music at a time and let the DB build after each artist or 2. I haven't tried this just yet only had the player a few days.

To fix this bug, first make sure you have the latest firmware, then format the player using a tool called Panasonic SD formatter. This also decreases boot time as well as fixes database issues. You can Google this for further details, or visit www.anythingbutipod.com forums. This is a tried and tested method. It worked for me when the problem was so bad that certain songs just wouldn't play or would force the player to re-boot.
