Dark Void
$60.00
Released January, 2010
The Pros:Control scheme incorporates many parallels to classic third-person titles - learning curve is significantly reduced amongst experienced gamers. Overall lack of blood/gore is appealing to the parents of young teenage gamers - T rating is aptly suited. Mid-air rocket pack combat is exciting and unconventional - wide variety of battle tactics provide a strong sense of user individuality.
The Cons:Environments tend to lack vividness/brightness - may appear repetitive to conscientious gamers. Storyline is dull and rather confusing - character arc and relationships are established without true development. Very minimal replay value - game is relatively short (6-8 hours) and lacks in achievements/side-quests.

The game features a now-standard cover system similar to the Gears of War series which allows players to use terrain defensively and strategically in order to overcome enemies. Additionally, a unique vertical cover system is introduced along with gameplay that involves heavy use of a jetpack by the main character. Along with traditional movement horizontally over terrain, players can also fly vertically and utilize cover while scaling a level upwards.
