The Dell Inspiron 518 is the latest in budget desktops from Dell. Featuring a wide variety of stock configurations and the ability to personally customize your build, the Insiron 518 starts as low at $329 without a monitor. Based on the Intel platform, the 518 can accept dual or quad core processors (up to a Q9300), up to 4 dimms of DDR2 RAM (only 3GB is accepted by 32bit operating systems), a SATA drive up to 500GB, and an optional low-end video card. Due to this it is clear that the system is is intended to be primarily as a general-purpose machine as it is limited in its gaming and media functionality.
