The Dell OptiPlex 980 is an energy-efficient desktop released in March 2010 and offering a 35% increase in performance from previous-generation OptiPlex systems. It features an i3/i5/i7 processor (up to 3.46GHz), support for 16GB of DDR3 SDRAM, and options for either SATA or SDD drives.

More importantly, the 980 is supposed to utilize a more energy-efficient design; plus it adds along new management features such as a virtual remote control capability with Intel KVM and simplified task management with Dell’s Update Catalog. Additional features include integrated Gigabit LAN, an integrated Intel graphics accelerator, and an optional EcoKit.
