The Dell Studio 17 is a large consumer-targeted laptop. With the potential to be a powerful desktop replacement, if processor and memory options are maxed out, the ldevice includes a arge 17” widescreen LED with a high resolution. Upgraded since its introduction, the Studio 17 now has the 2.8GHz T9600 as its highest CPU option, while memory can expand to 8GB DDR3 1066MHz (up from a 2.5GHz CPU and 4GB max of DDR2 memory running at 667MHz). Similarly the video options have been improved, including a current generation discrete ATI graphics card (either the 4570 or 4650) over the previous generation Intel GMA 3100 or its discrete ATI Radeon HD 3450 upgrade. The device's display is 720p capable by default with a high resolution of 1600 x 900px, upgradable to a multi-touch display of the same resolution or full high definition 1080p display. Dell has also equipped this unit with Mobile Broadband (Verizon or Sprint Mobile) with Dell Wireless Wi-Fi (upgradable to the Intel WiFi 5100).

- numpad included
- color options are very cool and fit multitudes of styles
- keys are very responsive and comfortable
- lots of connectivity options
- 320 gb hard drive, plus another hdd slot
- deals-a-plenty
- ATI Radeon graphics standard - much more powerful than the standard Intel GMA
Cons
- on the heavy side
- gets pretty hot
- sd/mmc/ms card slot is very finnicky and you can get your cards stuck if your not careful
