Dell designed the U2711 monitor with CCFL technology which is engineered to deliver 102 percent color gamut.
The U2711 uses 12-bit internal color processing which allows the monitor the ability to output 10-bit color, ultimately reducing the levels of grey, and also aids in eliminating banding. Multiple inputs are integrated into the LCD display including HDMI, two dual link DVI connections (all with HDCP support), VGA, component, and composite video connections. The U2711 also includes four USB ports total, two on the back and two on the side, along with an 8-in-1 flash memory reader.

LG & Dell have both been suffering from quality control issues - many problems with the U2410 encourage a prudent wait and see attitude about the U2711 as well

not all that bigger than the U2410 when compared side to side (due to aspect ratio) - not worth the price premium
-

not a "sexy" design - fairly thick, industrial design
