Denon DVD-2500BTCI

The Denon DVD-2500BTCI is a high-end profile 1.1 compliant Blu-ray player (aka Blu-ray disc transport) retailing for $999. It is Denon's first Blu-ray player along with the flagship Denon DVD-3800BDCI ($1999), with the first player's hitting the market in mid-January 2008. It features a single HDMI output (v. 1.3a) and is notably lacking any other video or audio outputs. For audio, the DVD-2500BTCI will output lossless a Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio bitstream, but does not support onboard decoding of these formats. It will decode 7.1 PCM audio, Dolby Digital Plus, and the core lossy Dolby Digital and DTS tracks which are output as 5.1 over HDMI. For video, the DVD-2500BTCI will output The DVD-2500BTCI 1080p/60 and 1080p/24 format, but does not feature source-direct output for outputting the native resolution of the Blu-ray disc over the HDMI output for video processing by the a/v receiver or pre, a feature found on other disc transports in its class. Nor does the DVD-2500BTC feature any onboard video processing; see the flagship DVD-3800BDCI for this feature as it has an onboard Silicon Optix Realta HQV video processing chip.
